NHL 14
Who knows if fighting will even be in the NHL in five years, but until they ban it from the sport enjoy this trailer for NHL 14's new fighting engine.
The trailer compares/contrasts this year's fighting mechanics from last year, and it's a big step up. Fights not only happen seamlessly during the normal course of play, but thanks to developer EA Canada's use of tech from Fight Night, the fights are more substantial. Balance and timing mean just as much as landing punches.
It's unknown how players' stamina at the beginning of a fight comes into play (and how you accept/decline fights), as well as if you can incur injuries in the process (beyond the cosmetic ones mentioned). However, we should know more when we see the game at E3 next week.
NHL 14 comes out for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 10. If you're more of a pretty boy rather than a fighter, take a look at this trailer on the game's new deke system.
