ARK: Survival Of The Fittest
Survival can be tough enough, even without sadistic forces turning it into a televised sport. The only thing that could possibly be more stressful (and hazardous) than trying to make your way through a dinosaur-filled nightmare would be doing so as teams conspire to slaughter one another in a Hunger Games-like free-for-all. That's the spirit behind the ARK: Survival Evolved spinoff ARK: Survival of the Fittest, which is available today as a standalone title in Early Access on Steam and is in development for consoles.
Survival of the Fittest pits up to 72 players against each other in arenas that shrink over time, encouraging players to meet up and battle to keep online spectators entertained. There are more than 30 creatures to train and ride at the start of the game's Early Access period, with more planned for the eventual launch. Developer Studio Wildcard has created a variety of different modes, tailored for players who are looking for relatively quick 30-minute matches up to battles that can last up to three hours.
The game is being designed with eSports in mind, with player rankings and monthly prize packages. To learn more about ARK, take a look at our preview of Survival Evolved.
