Ark: Survival Evolved
Gaming has given us all sorts of experiences, but there is something magical about facing off against a tyrannosaurus rex with only spears and your wits. Ark: Survival Evolved is offering that kind of experience, along with dinosaur taming and riding, crafting, and a brutal environment to survive.
The pitch for Ark sounds like a twist on Bohemia Interactive’s DayZ. You wake up naked and afraid on an island, and you’ll need to find clothing, food, and shelter to survive. Oh, and then there’s that little dinosaur problem we mentioned.
Developer Studio Wilcard says that the title includes over 60 dinosaurs, with other dangerous wildlife on the prowl, too. With the crafting system though, you’ll be able to create weapons and arm a tribe of friends in online play.
Ark: Survival Evolved is planned for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (with Project Morpheus VR support). The game is also coming to PC, Mac, and Linux with Oculus Rift VR support. The title is due in early 2016.
