Fans Are Already Editing Smash Bros. Trailers To Crossover With Infinity War
Today, Nintendo murdered every character in their catalog, except Kirby. It was actually a pretty cool trailer, and Captain Falcon is a huge coward. The cinematic trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's World of Light single-player mode bears more than a few similarities to the Avengers movie released earlier this year, Infinity War, which is not, like, super shocking. You can only really raise the ceilings on epic crossovers so much without them all bearing a resemblance.
Fans definitely took notice, however, and there's already edits pairing the two properties, or ur-properties, together. Check out this video, which cheats a little by using the Robin/Lucina trailer from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U in it, as one example.
There have also been reactions on Twitter comparing the two.
I spent entirely too much time on something I didn't check to see if somebody did it better.— nairume (@nairumedd) November 1, 2018

Thanos comes to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate... but won't take part in the fight. He just thinks the roster is overpopulated and will randomly vanish half of it!— SpookyPandy 🎃 (@LeakyPandy) October 9, 2018

With Final Fantasy XIV's penchant for dramatic trailers, of course that got some crossover love, too.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releases on December 7 on Nintendo Switch. The next Avengers film, continuing from 2018's Infinity War, lands in theaters in May.
