In advance of Splatoon 2's launch, Nintendo has released its new mobile app that will handle most of the social functions of it the online gameplay experience.

The Nintendo Switch Online app is going to be the place for most of the console's internet functionality, and the features it provides will differ from game to game. When Splatoon 2 comes out this Friday (click here for Brian's review), players will be able to use the app for voice chat, game invites, and the dedicated SplatNet 2 service that was detailed in a Nintendo Direct earlier this month.

The app is available now on iOS and Android devices and will be free to use until Nintendo's paid online service launches in 2018.
