by Javy Gwaltney on Jan 05, 2017 at 05:40 AM

The mobile gaming market continues to grow. According to Apple, the App store brought in 20 billion dollars in revenue over the course of 2016.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, says that games like Pokemon Go and Super Mario Run were a large part of that revenue.  According to Schiller, Pokemon Go was the most downloaded app of the year.

For more on Pokemon Go, you can read Reiner's piece about his issues with the app here. If Super Mario Run is more your thing, you can read Kyle's review of it.

Our Take
I remember mobile gaming being considered something of a joke just a few short years ago. Hard to argue with these numbers though and the quality of games that are available right now, like Pokemon Go, Reigns, Super Mario Run, and 80 Days.
