Hello Games Announces Foundation Update For No Man's Sky

by Suriel Vazquez on Nov 27, 2016 at 05:44 AM

After weeks silence across their social media channels (hacking incident notwithstanding), No Man's Sky developer Hello Games has announced its latest update for the game, titled "The Foundation Update,"

The update is titled as such because with this update, the team says it has "added the foundations of base building [sic], and also because this is putting in place a foundation for things to come." The blog post on Hello Games' website does not outline the actual update, saying details about what the update will bring (besides base-building) will come soon.

Hello Games does offer a few details on what it has been doing since their last update, which released on September 24. "In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update," the blog states. "It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something." It also acknowledges that the discussion around the game has been "intense," but states that the team is still actively working to improve the game. "We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about."

Our Take
Hello Games has been doing the right thing since the drama around their game exploded: keeping their heads down and working on the game. But it seems a bit strange to simply tease the update now, instead of posting about it at release. Hopefully this update will appease fans and go toward making No Man's Sky the game Hello Games imagined it would be at launch.
