Castlevania Spiritual Successor Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night Gets Delayed

by Ben Reeves on Sep 08, 2016 at 03:22 PM

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night fans eager to play Koji Igarashi's next project will have to wait until at least 2018 to get their hands on the final project.

In a recent Kickstarter update, Bloodstained developer Koji Igarashi commented on the delay, saying, "The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can. Again, I offer my sincerest apologies."

Igarashi is delaying Bloodstained's release until the first half of 2018. The good new is that the team is also bringing on additional development staff to help polish the product. See the game in action in this video from the E3 Demo, and read our interview with Igarashi from around the time of the initial Kickstarter launch.

Our Take
This is unfortunate, but like most delays it's hopefully best for the game. Unlike most games, Kickstarter-backed projects are often announced very early in development, so it's not surprising that we often have to wait a long time before their official release.
