rumor

What's old is new again. Maybe. Retailer World Of Games recently had a listing for Battlefield 5 that may have inadvertently revealed some details about the game, including that it takes place during World War 1.

Twitter users Thrillo and Zinogray uncovered the listing, with Thrillo posting an image of it on Twitter:

An error occurred while retrieving the Tweet. It might have been deleted.

The subheader there "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter im 1. Weltkrieg"  translates to "Multiplayer tactical shooter in WW1." There's also a release date listed: October 26, 2016.

The listing has since been edited and now reads "Mehrspieler Taktik Shooter." The listed release date remains unchanged.

Our Take
As always, retailer leaks should be taken with a good amount of skepticism. That said, a Battlefield going back in history after three games set in modern times does make a lot of sense.

That the retailer has also removed the World War 1 description is also interesting. Hardly damning evidence that the World War 1 setting for Battlefield 5 is legitimate, but it is very interesting.
