Magicians Penn Jillette And Randy Pitchford To Open 2016 D.I.C.E. Summit

by Kyle Hilliard on Jan 21, 2016 at 02:00 AM

The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) revealed today the speakers and panels that will be part of this year's D.I.C.E. summit.

Penn Jillette and Randy Pitchford will open the show with a keynote titled, Assumptions and Expectations with Interactivity and Magic. It will apparently, "lead members of the audience through a magic trick that will move from the live theater to virtual reality."

Other events include a panel moderated by chief creative director at Electronic Arts Rich Hilleman about the future of automobiles and transportation and how it overlaps with video games. Film and television producers Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh will be joined by Steven Weintraub and others for a keynote entitled Franchise Fever: Pursuing Big Ideas and Big Audience. There are plenty of other planned speakers for the summit, as well.

Our Take
Penn Jillette is an interesting pick for keynote speaker. I don't think he plays video games, but he has always been among their proponents and seems to understand the medium's value. He is apparently planning to remake his game game Desert Bus with Pitchford, which weirdly aligns with the panel about transportation.
