Disney Infinity’s Power Stone-Like Marvel Battlegrounds Lands In March
At New York Comic Con, I had the opportunity to see the first gameplay for Disney Infinity’s next big game within a game. Marvel Battlegrounds is a completely different take on the characters, aping arena fighters like Super Smash Bros. and Power Stone.
The playset, which comes with the new Captain America - The First Avenger figure, will be out on March 15. Players will be able to use any of their existing Marvel figures from 2.0 and the new additions (Ultron and Hulkbuster).
You only need one figure pad, as the game will scan in your figures to populate a character select screen. At NYCC, Disney said it retooled many of the characters for the new mode.
Disney Infinity vice president of production John Vignocchi also hints that there are more characters to be revealed. With Wakanda (home of Black Panther, who will be introduced in the upcoming Civil War film) featured as one of the 12 stages, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him added.
And given that Civil War features prominently on the Battlegrounds package, it’s conceivable we could see figures for some of the other characters. These include Scarlet Witch, Winter Soldier, War Machine, Vision, Ant-Man, and Crossbones.
