News

As reported in September, former Fox Engine Director Julien Merceron has left Konami. While the publisher never responded to our request for comment about his departure, we have confirmation as he has taken a new position.

Eurogamer reports that Merceron has joined Bandai Namco. There, he will be involved with technology development and production pipelines.

Merceron and the publisher have provided statements to Eurogamer confirming his role. Specific projects with which he will be involved have not yet been revealed.

Our Take
It isn’t surprising at this point that Konami isn’t responding to request for comment on staffing issues, but it doesn’t make the publisher seem open. Between Kojima’s rocky departure and strange denials along the way, it’s hard to know just what the future holds for Konami. As for Merceron, it’s clear he has talent, as the Fox Engine is capable of impressive visuals. I’m eager to see what emerges from his work at Bandai Namco.
