Report: Konami World Technology Director And Fox Engine Maestro Julien Merceron Departs

by Mike Futter on Sep 17, 2015 at 06:38 AM

One of Konami’s key technology staffers has reportedly departed the company. Julien Merceron, who served as world technology director and overseer of the company’s powerful Fox Engine, is said to have left.

Both Gameblog and IGN are reporting that Merceron is no longer with Konami. He joined in 2013 to manage the engine which came to power Metal Gear Solid V and the recent installments of Pro Evolution Soccer.

Prior to his tenure at Konami, Merceron was with Square Enix and Ubisoft. We’ve reached out to the publisher for comment and we’ll update should we receive a response.

You can learn more about Merceron’s work at Konami in an interview from February 2014.

Our Take
Now that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is out, I expect we’ll start to hear more about the game’s reportedly tumultuous final months. The story is likely far from over.
