Today marks the release of Final Fantasy VI on Steam – a fact that might get you excited if you're an old-school RPG fan like me. However, as we've mentioned before, you may want to temper your enthusiasm, since it doesn't have the visual style that made the original game a classic.
The Steam version uses the same graphical overhaul we saw in the iOS release. Granted, this is old news, but it just can't be overstated: It looks terrible. Not just because it looks different from the original, but because its pastel characters are smudged and blurry.
Seriously, if you want to play Final Fantasy VI again, track down the GBA or SNES versions.
