Weekend Warrior 7/17/2015

by Alissa McAloon on Jul 17, 2015 at 02:00 PM

The weekend is the perfect time to unwind, spend time with the family, and dump countless hours into your favorite video games. This weekend, the Game Informer staff seems to collectively be tying up loose ends in Gotham City. As usual, both Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3 seem to be dominating the weekend hours, though some of us are devoting a chunk of time to our ever-growing backlogs.

Are you still cutting down beasties as Geralt or have you moved on to Rocket League like Game Informer's intern crew? Let up know your weekend plans in the comments!

Tim Turi (@timturi) – This weekend I’m actually carving out an entire day to do nothing but play games. My life has been busy lately, with E3 and moving to a new apartment taking up an incredible amount of time. Now that all the craziness is behind me, I’m hoping to dive even deeper into The Witcher 3. I just got off the ship to Skellige, so I’m excited to explore the brand new territory and see what monsters need to be slain. I also finished up Batman: Arkham Knight’s main story this week, so I may tinker around with some alternate costumes and sidequests if I feel so inclined.

Mike Futter (@Futterish) – I’m finally finished with both Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes, so I’m moving onto something new. I started dabbling in a few games in hopes of finding one that hooks me. Just Cause 2 is, so far, quite entertaining. I might also dive back into the Witcher (the first one). I know. I’m way behind. The backlog is deep, and I have to start somewhere!

Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – It looks like the new Witcher 3 patch is live, so I'll be diving back into that game, headfirst. I'm a notorious in-game hoarder, so I'm excited to see the new inventory changes. In particular, I'm curious to learn how much inventory space I'll free up now that alchemy materials don't weigh anything. Yes, this is super boring nerd crap. Sorry.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – I'm looking forward to checking out the Tig Notaro documentary on Netflix. She's one of those comics that just says anything and it will make me laugh. I also want to knock out the Arkham Knight DLC and play more Witcher.

Christian Belland (@ChrisFightsBear) –This weekend, I'll be playing a ton of Rocket League and Dying Light on hard mode. True to its name, hard mode is actually pretty hard and changes the gameplay itself instead of just increasing enemy health and damage. The HUD is reduced, the inventory doesn't pause the game, and medkits heal over time (and for half their original value). Play Dying Light on normal if you want to feel like a parkour super hero. Play on hard mode if you want to be challenged.

Alissa McAloon (@Gliitchy) – I’ve gone almost a week without actually playing Destiny; this weekend I plan to rectify that. I’m so very close to completing my Thorn bounty and obtaining one of the most annoying PvP weapons in the game; even the recently announced nerf can’t ruin that victory for me. Other than the usual, I’m thinking of dusting off my computer giving Telltale’s Game of Thrones a go. If I’m feeling especially brave, I might put my PC’s life on the line and attempt to run The Witcher 3 too. Fingers crossed.

Hershall Cook (@HershallCook) – This weekend I will continue to train  for my Rocket League rematch with fellow intern Christian Belland. My training consists of three phases: meals, playing Rocket League, and watching all of the Rocky movies.
