Weekend Warrior 7/10/2015

Though the weekend has arrived, this is no ordinary end of the week: over the next 60 hours, one editor must save the world. Other events include an intern beginning his quest for vengeance and Kyle Hilliard taking his kid to see a movie.

The rest of the Game Informer staff looks forward to Her Story, The Witcher 3, Rocket League, and more. What do you plan to play this weekend?

Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves): I'm going on a super secret covert mission out to the woods, so I won't be playing a lot of games this weekend, but I might be saving us all from a post-apocalyptic disaster. Pray you never learn of my mission, for if I am successful, you'll never hear anything more about it. On Sunday I might play some Witcher 3.

Christian Belland (@ChrisFightsBear): I picked up a used Wii earlier this week so I could work on my Nintendo backlog during these "slow" summer months. I've been basking in the standard definition glory of Mario Galaxy, and this weekend I'll be playing nothing but Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. What year is it again? Maybe I'll play some more Rocket League, too. Soccer is so much better with jumping cars. Who knew?

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – This weekend, I'll be playing some Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China and Mortal Kombat X. Between those, I'll be continuing my Road to the Show in MLB 15: The Show.

Ben Hanson (@Yozetty) – This weekend I'm going to continue pouring way too much time and sweat into Rocket League. It's one of those soccer with cars games you hear so much about, it's on PC and is one of the PlayStation Plus free games for July. It's really, really fun. Other than that, I hope to finally get back to Arkham Knight. I'll concede and bring the PC version down to 720, have they patched the performance issues lately? Have a good weekend!

Tim Turi (@TimTuri)My adventures in Novigrad and Gotham City have been waylaid by an unsuspecting indie game called Her Story. This FMV mystery tasks players with using a '90s PC throwback interface to solve an cold case using disparate clips from several lengthy police interviews. If you've seen True Detective, imagine that you're Marty trying to piece together clues using outdated, incomplete information in the basement of a dank archive. It's thrilling and even oddly chilling at times.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – We're going to take the child to see Minions this weekend, which looks charming despite middling reviews. After getting all the Riddler trophies, I'm done with Batman, and I miss him. Now is probably the time to start back with Witcher or dive back into Bloodborne. It's a coin toss. I'm also excited to check out Hannibal Buress' TV show, Why?, and Chris Tucker's new stand-up special on Netflix. Finally, Between the Buried and Me's new album "Coma Ecliptic" is out, so I will probably throw on some headphones and nod approvingly to that. They're one of the few bands I get excited about new releases for these days.

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) – New releases have predictably slowed down recently, which is providing a much-needed lull for me to continue plugging away at The Witcher 3. The last mission I did required me to lead a pellar's goat through a forest, which culminated in a surprise showdown against a grizzly bear. Also, I'm pretty sure that pellar is doing unspeakable things to his goat, in which case I just led the poor animal back to its abuser. These are not the kind of serious choices I signed on for!

Hershall Cook (@HershallCook) – Dedicated Test Chamber fans may know of my humiliating Rocket League defeat at the hands of fellow intern Christian Belland. That's why I have devoted this weekend – as well as the rest of my life – to becoming the best Rocket League player this world has ever known.
