This Week In Mobile: Boats, Snipers, And Psychedelic Puppies

by Hershall Cook on Jun 12, 2015 at 12:21 PM

Emotions flew all over the place during this week in mobile. First we assassinated criminals in Hitman: Sniper, then we saved a puppy in Looking For Laika. After rescuing the puppy, we ran away with her by building a boat in You Must Build A Boat. At the end of the week, when we realized our story was so touching it deserved to be a major motion picture, we sold it to a producer in Hollywood Visionary.

Want a similar experience? Take a break from texting your friends and check out these fun mobile titles.

Hitman: Sniper
Developer: Square Enix Ltd
Platform(s): iOS, Android
Price: $4.99

In the most recent iteration of the Hitman franchise, Agent 47 is tasked with eliminating his targets from afar. Ditching the option to run in guns blazing, Hitman: Sniper shifts the series’ formula from pure action to tactical strategy. If you need to hide a corpse, for example, you’ll have to do so without approaching the building.

You Must Build A Boat
Developer: EightyEight Games
Platform(s): iOS, Android
Price: $2.99

You Must Build A Boat combines the thrill of endless running with the intensity of match three, resulting in gameplay so addictive that last weekend several Game Informer editors played this indie gem over The Witcher 3. If you still think You Must Build A Boat doesn’t deserve your time, perhaps our glowing review will change your mind.

Looking For Laika
Developer: Moanbej
Platform: Android
Price: Free

Looking For Laika offers beautiful visuals and soothing music alongside a cute story featuring an astronaut and a dog-in-distress. To pursue the aliens who stole Laika, you must latch onto spinning planets and use the momentum to fling yourself forward. Because of the obstacles littered around in space, this gimmick requires both a quick hand and sharp wits.

Also, did I mention this game is free?

Hollywood Visionary
Developer: Choice of Games LLC
Platform(s): iOS, Android
Price: $3.99 on iOS, $4.99 on Android

Hollywood Visionary, an interactive novel of 150,000 words, offers a Choose Your Own Story take on the Hollywood industry. Players begin the game as the head of an up-and-coming studio. Questions arise in what type of movies you direct and which actors you hire. Although the game's endings depend on player choice, be prepared: most people won’t end up as Hollywood hotshots.
