Square Enix's fighting game series starring Final Fantasy characters, Dissidia, is getting a new entry for Japanese arcades.

Announced at the Japanese Amusement Expo, which is an arcade-focused show, this Dissidia Final Fantasy looks like it will differ somewhat from the PSP Dissidia titles with three versus three battles. You can check out the trailer below which showcases a number of iconic Final Fantasy characters duking it out, some of which have never been seen in such high-definition.

Right now the game is only confirmed for Japanese arcade, but Square Enix says more details about the game will be revealed in April.

Our Take
This game features a lot of familiar Final Fantasy characters, which makes it prime for release at some capacity in North America. But this fighting sub-genre – three versus three arena fighting – isn't popular in North America. Even if American fighting fans are more interested in Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter-style two-dimensional fighting, that doesn't meant this Dissidia Final Fantasy couldn't make its way here and find an audience.
