Undead Labs Piles Up 2 Million State Of Decay Sales

by Mike Futter on Oct 02, 2014 at 06:10 AM

Undead Labs has announced another milestone for its zombie apocalypse simulator, State of Decay. The developer is celebrating 2 million copies sold across Xbox Live and Steam.

The company doesn’t have any new announcements, but it promises a month of festivities to commemorate the good news. The title was first released on June 5, 2013, on Xbox Live, reaching 1 million copies sold in October

Since then, the game released on Steam in November 2013 and two expansions (Breakdown and Lifeline). An Xbox One version is slated for release in Spring 2015.

Our Take
State of Decay has been an interesting game to watch. Undead Labs has tweaked it with updates and DLC to make it a bit more forgiving (there is a penalty for being away for too long), while also adding some conveniences that make it more reasonable. One thing that Undead Labs wasn’t able to do was incorporate multiplayer, which seems like a very good reason to look forward to the sequel we hope is coming.
