Play Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Free For 72 Hours

PopCap’s lighthearted take on the competitive shooter genre is a mashup that must be experienced to be understood. Thankfully, if you’re looking for that taste of brains or broccoli, you can get it without paying a dime.

EA’s Origin service rolled out a “Game Time” section earlier this year, and has since added PC titles for a limited time. Right now, you can download the title and play for 72 hours beginning when you load up the game for the first time.

If that’s not your speed, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is also currently available. You can get 48 hours of action RPG fun for free right now.

Our Take
This is a smart use of the Origin service and will likely motivate catalog sales for the featured games. It’s interesting to watch EA experiment with different pricing and packaging models, in part because they are very un-EA things to do. The company is trying to change its image, and consumer friendly actions like this are likely to help.
