Mega Ran And Klopfenplop Team Up For "T.U.R.T.L.E. Power"

by Harry Mackin on Aug 07, 2014 at 07:31 AM

Nerdcore rap artists Mega Ran and Klopfenpop recently collaborated for their totally tubular new music video “T.U.R.T.L.E. Power.” The bodacious beat samples Partners N Kryme’s 1990 theme from the original TMNT movie, “TURTLE Power,” set to the stylized visuals of the TMNT arcade game.

The music video, below, tells the tale of intrepid reporter April O’ Neil hot on the trail of Shredder’s gang of “wayward teens,” the Foot Clan. She is (surprise) captured, and it’s up to our heroes in a half shell to save the day again. Later, Shredder himself captures Splinter, and the turtles must become “ninjas, not only of body, but of mind,” to rescue their rodent master.

The radical rhymes also take the time to explain the Turtle’s origin story, their love for pepperoni pizza, and what Turtle Power actually is (it’s standing for what you believe in, and finding the strength to do what’s right). The rap is pretty clever, so we’re willing to forgive that they seem to think Raphael is the “leader of the group” (Leonardo is the leader, guys; Raphael is cool, but rude).

We’ve covered some of Mega Ran AKA Random’s music on Game Informer before, and even debuted one of his songs, “Mako Reactor,” which later appeared on his full-length album inspired entirely by Final Fantasy VII music, Black Materia. The 2011 album also featured “Aerith,” a rap about the famous ill-fated love interest (Spoilers, I guess).
