Watch The Last Of Us: One Night Live And See Images From The Performance

by Mike Futter on Jul 28, 2014 at 05:16 PM

In just a few hours, you’ll have your hands on The Last of Us: Remastered Edition. To honor the culmination of this journey, creative director Neil Druckmann and actors Troy Baker (Joel), Hana Hayes (Sarah), Annie Wersching (Tess), Merle Dandridge (Marlene), and Ashley Johnson (Ellie). Joining them was composer Gustavo Santolalla.

Druckmann asked that the actors be off book (have their lines memorized), and with the exception of one amusing flub, it was flawless. One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the “alternate ending” scene that was chosen. If you aren’t familiar with this musical rendition, you’re in for a treat.

The entire hour-long presentation is archived and available for you (below). As you might expect, there are spoilers for the entire game.

If you’ve not played The Last of Us, steer clear until you have. Not only will you preserve the experience, but you’ll get far more from this knowing the story.

For more, you can read our review of the Remastered Edition for PlayStation 4.

Update: According to Geoff Keighley, the in-house audience saw a special scene that takes place after the ending of the game. We're keeping an eye out for any descriptions of the content.

Our Take
As an experiment, The Last of Us: One Night Live is a resounding success. There are few games that carry the gravitas of Naughty Dog’s masterpiece and would warrant such a treatment, but the next time one comes around, I hope this happens again.
