Cyberpunk 2077 Unaffected By CD Projekt’s Witcher 3 Delay

by Mike Futter on Mar 13, 2014 at 03:51 AM

Earlier this week, CD Projekt delivered the unfortunate news that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won’t be making its 2014 release date. The title has been bumped to February 2015. This left many wondering about the status of Cyberpunk 2077.

There is good news, as progress on The Witcher 3 should not impact Cyberpunk 2077’s development. Speaking with Gamespot, CD Projekt CEO Marcin Iwinski explained how his studio approaches development.

"Cyberpunk 2077 is developed by a separate team within CD Projekt Red, so the development of Cyberpunk 2077 is not really affected," Iwinski said. He also explains that some team members move between projects in order to accomplish tasks and move on.

Our Take
Since Cyberpunk 2077 doesn’t have a release date (or even a release window), whether The Witcher 3’s delay impacts it or not can easily be masked from the public. Ultimately, as long as both games are good upon release, that’s all that matters.
