The Xbox One is getting a stream of updates to increase the user experience. In February, the battery indicator and hard drive management were enabled. In March, friends list and parties are getting boost. Now we know approximately when to expect friend alerts to return Xbox Live.

If you played on Xbox 360, you’ll no doubt know the sound and look of the notification signaling a friend has come online. Via Twitter, Xbox One chief product officer says that “toasts” (those notifications that appear on the bottom of your screen) won’t be in the March update.

Twitch broadcasting toasts from your friends, yes,” he writes about the March update. “But not friends online.” Whitten originally suggested that the next update would come in April but revised his comment. “I should say ‘the next update after March.’”

Our Take
I really want the Xbox One social experience to get to where the Xbox 360’s is now. A big part of that will be getting back friend notifications. The sooner that happens, the more likely I’ll be to play with friends.
