Video Shows Off Upcoming Xbox One Social Upgrades

by Mike Futter on Feb 25, 2014 at 07:50 AM

A new Xbox One update is coming in March that will enhance the social features of the new console. Today, Xbox Live program director Larry Hryb has shared a video of the new friends and party features.

In the video, you’ll get a quick look at improved party features (chat is on by default), improved friend sorting (favorites are at the top now), and the return of an important feature (now you can report those recently played-with griefers). The update also surfaces some of the functionality, like sending messages, and makes it easier to invite friends to parties and games.

For more on the March update, check out our previous coverage. Expect it to hit sometime before Titanfall’s March 11 launch.

Our Take
While these features should arguably have been there from the beginning, I’ve always appreciated Microsoft’s ability to improve the user experience. I’m still not at home on the Xbox One like I am on the 360, but these updates will likely make things feel more comfortable.
