First Forza 5 Car Pack Puts You In A Ferrari At Launch

by Mike Futter on Nov 04, 2013 at 09:50 AM

Last week, we reported on the Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass and the 60 additional motor vehicles it will bring to the title post-launch. Today, Microsoft has given some more details, including the price and the DLC schedule.

The Forza Motorsport 5 Car Pass will be priced at $49.99 and offer a reported 18 percent savings over purchasing a la carte. As that doesn’t calculate out to an even amount for the six packs, we’re left to believe that they won’t all be priced the same.

The first will be available alongside the game and console launch on November 22. The first of the ten included cars, the LaFerrari. This vehicle sports a 950 horsepower engine, and only 499 of them will be made (digital versions are unlimited, however).

Microsoft and Turn 10 promise more details on the other nine cars in the pack on November 18, 2013. The remaining packs will be available during the first week of the month from January 2014 through March 2014.

Our Take
The car pass is a heavy investment, and while Turn 10 has earned the trust of Forza fans, I’d still be skeptical about shelling out $50 for a lot of unannounced cars. At the very least, wait until the first pack is detailed in full before making a decision.
