Skyrim Mash-Up Pack Coming To Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition

by Mike Trinh on Nov 01, 2013 at 07:01 AM

Mojang and Bethesda have announced that they are releasing a mash-up pack that will combine the worlds of Minecraft and Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The pack reskins all of Minecrafts textures to fit a Skyrim theme. It also includes 40 character skins, 20 songs from the Skyrim soundtrack and a pre-made world with locations such as Whiterun, Riverwood and Bleak Falls Barrow.

Mojang has not revealed a release date for the mash-up pack, only that it will be playable at MineCon in Orlando on November 2 - 3. The price of the pack is also unknown, but the previously released $4 Mass Effect pack might be a good point of comparison.

Check out screenshots of the texture pack below and watch Minecraft creator Notch interview Bethesda's Todd Howard at E3 2011.

Our Take
Although the Mass Effect mash-up pack was a nice surprise, it did not fit well with the Minecraft universe and the pre-made world had few points of interest. Minecraft and Skyrim, on the other hand, seem as if they fit perfectly together. I can't wait to explore a blocky version Skyrim, see the new mob skins and take down the Ender Dragon (who hopefully looks like Alduin).
