Dark Horse To Release Free Digital Comic Based on Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z

by Mike Trinh on Oct 11, 2013 at 11:29 AM

Following news of Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z’s release on PC in addition to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, Dark Horse Comics has revealed that it will publish three digital comics based on the game, and they will be free. Set to release before the game comes out, the comics will give players an early introduction to the world of Yaiba. The comics are written by Tim Seeley and Josh Eamons with art from Rafael Ortiz.

The comics will be available for download on the Dark Horse Digital Store and the Dark Horse Comics App. Dark Horse will also release a different print comic when the game comes out in 2014.

The Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z game, developed by Keiji Inafune’s Comcept, is about a cyborg ninja who must mercilessly slaughter legions of zombies for whatever reason.

Our Take:
Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z doesn't seem like a game that focuses on story as much as it does on INSANE action. I probably won't read the comic before playing the game. But it's great that the developer and Dark Horse is giving players the option to get a taste of this world early - and for free. And since the game is heavily inspired by American comics, creating this comic version seems like the obvious thing to do.
