Ubisoft Lays Down Its Plans For PAX Prime

by Jeff Cork on Aug 26, 2013 at 08:43 AM

Ubisoft has revealed what it's showing at PAX Prime, which is being held in Seattle from August 30 to September 2. The company has a mix of hands-on demos and theater presentations – and lots of swag to give away.

Here's a look at what fans can expect to see and play, straight from Ubisoft. All times are Pacific.

  • PAX Prime attendees that visit the Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag theater will be treated to an exclusive look at the newest Assassin’s Creed single-player demo. Attendees will have the opportunity to take sharable pictures with Edward Kenway, the newest Assassin hero, and receive a special-edition Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag inflatable cutlass sword (while supplies last). Pre-order at PAX Prime to receive a limited-edition Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag T-shirt.
  • Attendees can catch a sneak peek at the console version of the popular platformer Rayman Legends before it comes out in stores on September 3. Attendees will be able to participate in hands-on demos of Rayman Legends at the Ubisoft booth and receive a Rayman Legends poster (while supplies last). The game will also be playable on Wii U at the Nintendo Booth (#462). For those that really want to test their skills, players can receive unique giveaways by playing the ultra-challenging Invasion Mode.
  • The Crew, a massive open world action-driving game for next-gen consoles, will offer hands on time taking players on a coast-to-coast joy ride across the entire United States. Attendees will also receive an exclusive keychain (while supplies last).
  • At the Watch Dogs theater, the adversarial mode of the companion app, Watch Dogs – ctOS Mobile, will be highlighting some of the ways players can invade other players’ games within the world of Watch Dogs. Theater attendees will receive a Watch Dogs lanyard (while supplies last).
  • In the LAN area gamers will have extensive hands-on time with The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot and Might & Magic Duel of Champions. Gamers can also face-off in strategic card game battles with Might & Magic Duel of Champions.
  • Panel
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Friday, August 30 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the main theater: Rev3 Games' Adam Sessler will moderate a discussion with game director Ashraf Ismail and Ralph Ineson (Game of Thrones, Harry Potter), the actor playing the pirate character Charles Vane. Hear how the team has brought the brutal adventures of pirates to life and experience the latest live gameplay demo.
  • Pre-Order Incentives
Attendees can also take advantage of pre-order incentives for some of Ubisoft’s biggest games at the show. Pre-orders for The Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, The Crew, and Watch Dogs include a free t-shirt and pre-orders for Rayman Legends will receive an exclusive Penny Arcade commemorative pin (while supplies last).

Our Take
This probably isn't very interesting if you aren't going to PAX this year. For the attendees, however, this kind of information can be invaluable. Knowing what's going to be available in a playable form versus a guided demo might mean the difference between swinging by first thing versus later in the day. And be sure to pay particular attention to the line "While supplies last." If you see an item that you can't see yourself living without, you might want to make a stop by Ubisoft's booth a particular priority,
