Wargaming Opens Up Austin, Texas Office

by Mike Futter on Aug 02, 2013 at 09:00 AM

In an era that has seen so many layoffs and studio closures, it's nice to have a day that sees not one, but two studio opening announcements. Earlier, we reported that CD Projekt RED is opening a new location in Krakow. Now, Wargaming has shared their own expansion plans.

The new studio in Austin, Texas, will be responsible for coordination of the publisher's development teams and studios around the world. Wargaming employs more than 2,000 people around the world and is responsible for 15 titles. The company recently acquired the Total Annihilation and Master of Orion properties from Atari's bankruptcy auction.

Our Take
I love reporting on good news, and new locations opening means job creation. It's always heartbreaking to report on studio closures and layoffs. I'm grateful for being able to shine a light on people get hired for once.
