The lights are on
CD Projekt Red, the studio behind the Witcher series and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game, has announced that they're opening a new development branch in Krakow, Poland.
The main base of operations for CD Projekt Red will remain in Warsaw, Poland, with the Krakow office "bolstering" development on the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, as the official press release characterizes it.
“A new studio, new people and new energy – we’re growing and we’re extremely excited that we can tap into the potential that Krakow has to offer," says Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt Red. "We want to continue to make better and better RPGs and the new studio is another big step in that direction. Krakow, one of the cultural and scientific centers of Europe, is a really special place that will leave a significant mark on our games.”
Our TakeThe games that CD Projekt Red have been working on are ambitious on their own – tackling both simultaneously seems insane. Instead of contracting local devs or outsourcing additional work, CD Projekt Red decided to open another location. Only time will tell if this was the right plan, but if founding a Krakow branch means better overall products, that's only positive for players.

These guys are great. It's awesome to see that they're branching out
Probably the most exciting developer working today, and their independence and straight-forward business style is as refreshing as it gets. Witcher 3 looks to be the first truly, exlusively next-gen experience. Can't wait for everything these guys are planning, and more team members just means it'll be in my hands that much quicker hopefully!
I love to see such a great company grow. These guys love what they do, and it shows. This is fantastic news.
Awesome news! It's great to see them expanding. I hope opening that new studio helps bolster their development.
Pretty crazy how this developer grew so large in so little time with so few games. I thoroughly enjoyed their games and wish the new staff at Krakow the best of success. I hope they'll kick off by releasing some Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay footage!
Hooray! Glad to see CD Projekt is doing well enough to add jobs instead of shedding them like much of the industry.
Hoping this means we'll see Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk just a bit sooner. I can't get me enough of their games.
More capacity for CD Project Red to deliver their particular brand of brilliance is awesome news in my book!
Krakow - the city of artists :)
BTW good news indeed!
Good deal. I want to see more on that cyberpunk 2077 game that trailer had me all excited.
Good to hear, always good to see that company doing good.
Man sadly I didn't getting into the Witcher since im tired of the same old elf-fantasy theme.... BUT MAN, I have to say this new sci-fi game looks like my cup of tea as a sci-fi fan. Can't wait to get my hands on it!!!!
Love the guys and gals at CDPR and I wish them nothing but the best. Stay true to your ideals and I will support you all the way.
