Team Bondi's Whore Of The Orient Gameplay Footage Appears Online

by Kyle Hilliard on Aug 02, 2013 at 04:25 AM

The fate of L.A. Noire developer Team Bondi's next game, Whore of the Orient, is ambiguous. The studio has had myriad financial issues, but a leaked video online proves that project still does, or at least did, exist in some capacity.

The video comes from VideoGamer.com, which cites a "trusted source" as the provider of the video. You can head here to see it yourself.

After the release of L.A. Noire, it was revealed that the studio owes more than $1 million to its employees. The studio split with publisher Rockstar Games, and was picked up by KMM, an Australian company best known for its work on the Happy Feet film series. The studio recently received government funding to continue its project.

Our Take
It's still unclear exactly what is going on with Whore of the Orient. The gameplay leaked looks like a project that is coming along nicely, but it also looks very close to L.A. Noire. The studio could have just tweaked the engine for that game to have something to show off to potential investors. L.A. Noire was not a perfect game, but it was an ambitious one with good ideas. I'm hopeful for the studio's next game to see fruition.
