Team Bondi Owes Its Employees Over $1 Million

by Matt Helgeson on Oct 07, 2011 at 10:42 AM

Despite having released one of the year's best games in L.A. Noire, the saga of Team Bondi continues its downward spiral. Today, reports have surfaced that the Australian studio owes its own employees over $1 million in unpaid wages – including studio head Brendan McNamara.

Edge is reporting that documents filed with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission names several prominent staff members as creditors of Team Bondi. A few days ago, it was announced that the Australian Securities & Investments Commission had appointed a liquidator to sell off Team Bondi's remaining assets in order to pay off its creditors. What we didn't know until now is that many of the creditors were in fact employees who were owed back wages.

Some of the prominent former employees named as creditors include general manager Vicky Lord, gameplay lead David Heironymus, and Brendan McNamara, who claims to be owed $102,495. Interestingly, McNamara's other company, Depth Analysis, which created the groundbreaking animation technology that won accolades in L.A. Noire, has a creditor claim of $145,795.83.

It's another ugly turn in an already sad story of apparent mismanagement.
