Skyrim Beating Out Modern Warfare 3 On Steam
Of the many titles released last week, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 were probably the biggest. While we'll need to wait a while to see how they shape up in the sales charts -- and Modern Warfare3 will almost undoubtedly win -- we do have some intriguing evidence that Skyrim is beating out Activision's popular shooter for the PC crowd.
Taking a look at the Steam game stats for today, Skyrim currently has an astounding 282,482 people playing. Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer has just under 80,000. Even if you include the number of people playing Modern Warfare 3 single-player, that number is still below 110,000, so Skyrim has it handily doubled and then some.
To be fair, Steam isn't the only way to play these two games on the PC, but it's likely a good microcosm of the rest of the PC gaming audience. Anyone surprised by these stats or has Call of Duty truly become a series primarily for the console gaming audience?
