Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime To Be Honored For Philanthropy

by Adam Biessener on Sep 29, 2011 at 06:11 AM

The Entertainment Software Association's philanthropic arm has announced Blizzard CEO and co-founder Mike Morhaime as the guest of honor at its annual black tie charity fundraiser. You could join Morhaime and dozens of other video game luminaries at the "Nite to Unite – for Kids" event if you're going to be in San Francisco on October 25th – and you have 750 extra dollars you don't have plans for.

Morhaime and Blizzard have raised nearly two million dollars in charity for kids with terminal conditions in the two years, in part through the well-publicized World of Warcraft pet sales that benefited the Make-A-Wish foundation.

The presidents of Square Enix, Konami, and Ubisoft are co-chairing this year's event. Over the years, the NTU has raised over 12 million dollars, and between the ticket prices and the auction and casino portions of the event, that number should get a decent boost this year.

What have you done for the less fortunate lately? Giving free gold to the spammers in Stormwind doesn't count.
