Blizzard Makes $800,000 Donation To Make-A-Wish Foundation

by Phil Kollar on May 05, 2011 at 01:00 PM

Late last year, Blizzard announced that it would be donating 50 percent of the profits from two new World of Warcraft pets to the Make-A-Wish foundation. That donation -- a whopping $800,000 -- has been made, and we've got the video to prove it.

The donation comes courtesy of the Lil' Ragnaros and Moonkin Hatchling (pictured) pets, which were sold for $10 each from Blizzard's WoW pet store. Doing some quick (and quite possibly incorrect) math, it sounds like at least around 160,000 people paid for the adorable virtual pets.

Last year a donation of $1.1 million was made from sales of the Pandaren Monk pet. It's a bummer that Blizzard couldn't top that this year, but it's hard to beat the appeal of the Pandaren. Blizzard also posted the following video below of a Make-A-Wish event held at Blizzard HQ where it made the announcement.
