Cloud Gets His Groove On In Theatrhythm Final Fantasy's Gameplay Trailer

by Andrew Reiner on Sep 12, 2011 at 06:30 PM

We've known about 3DS's upcoming Theatrhythm Final Fantasy for quite some time and have even seen a handful of screenshots of it. Now, my dear readers, we get to see the title in action. I don't know about you, but this trailer makes me flash back to Nintendo's E3 press conference where Shigeru Miyamoto jumped around on stage pretending he was playing a flute. (shudder) Believe me, you may not want to click the play button below. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. Fair warning, people. Fair warning.

The video shows off a few of the game's rhythmic gameplay types, including battle, dancing, and what I believe to be aimless field wandering. Battle looks much like a classic Final Fantasy battle, only with giant colored orbs flying at the faces of each character.

I see shades of Elite Beat Agents and Guitar Hero/Rock Band in this video. More than anything, though, I see a whole lot of crazy. I cannot wait to get my hands on this game! No release date or localization plans have been released just yet, but we'll be sure to ask Square Enix about it later this week when Tokyo Game Show officially kicks off.
