Disney Making Animated Film Based On Fake Video Game

by Phil Kollar on Aug 24, 2011 at 09:40 AM

Disney may not be succeeding with its forays into the video game market, but the next Disney Animated film will be taking on that medium to hopefully much stronger results.

First Showing reports that Disney unveiled its November 2012 film Wreck-It Ralph at the D23 Expo. Wreck-It Ralph will follow the adventures of the titular arcade game villain, who will be voiced by John C. Reilly. Rival Fix It Felix Jr. will be tasked with repairing damage done by Ralph and voiced by Jack McBrayer. As the movie progresses, Ralph will visit various other arcade games, so there should be plenty of nostalgia for long-time gamers.

With over a year until Wreck-It Ralph's release, there's no footage and limited info available, but those who attended D23 Expo and got to see some early storyboard footage seemed very excited. It also seems like the ideal movie for a simple XBLA/PSN tie-in, so here's hoping Disney gets working on that soon.
