More Gaming Haikus From GI's Poet Laureate

by Jeff Cork on Jul 04, 2011 at 04:51 AM

A few months ago, I decided to write up a list of the last 10 games I'd played and write haikus for each one. In honor of the Fourth of July and our nation's independence, I'm doing it again. Don't ask why; just run with it.

This time around, I'm going for an even dozen. I know, I'm too kind. After you've read mine, add yours in the comments section. And go here if you missed my last batch. Trust me when I tell you that they're absolutely amazing.

EDF: Insect Armageddon
Spiders, giant ants,
daddy long legs with ray guns—
go back home to space.

Cars 2: The Video Game
We live in strange times.
It’s a licensed Pixar game
that trounces the film.

Pinball FX2
I put this game down,
then I get new messages.
Beat my high score, eh?

Bejeweled Blitz Live
I paid for this game,
since I love it on Facebook.
Accidents happen.

Microsoft Game Room
It’s a misnomer.
Judging from the selection,
it’s Konami’s room.

Trenched
Old-timey robots.
Tower defense, and upgrades?
I am in heaven.

Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2
*** these leaderboards!
Just when I thought I was out…
they pull me back in!

Costume Quest
This game is awesome!
Double Fine does it again!
(Joe Juba hates fun.)

Blur
Mario Kart fans
who want to appear mature
should just let it go.

Monday Night Combat
It has been a while.
Let’s just download this update.
Oh. It’s big. Next time.

Magic The Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012
If this was as fun
as its title is lengthy
I’d play it again.

Kinect Fun Labs

I like to have fun!
Oh. Looks like I have to change
my definition.
