Play For Japan Auctions Include Original GI/Arkham Art

by Meagan Marie on Mar 26, 2011 at 06:58 AM

The overwhelming influx of rare items donated for Play for Japan continues. The industry effort is off to a great start, as this first week alone we raised over $10,500 for various charitable causes aiding Japan’s recovery. A large part of that number is thanks to your help in promoting the Nintendo DS and Game Informer bundles!

You can take a look at all the auctions here. Media Molecule is selling some hand-drawn Sackboy concept art, and the life-sized Ghost statue signed by the Infinity Ward crew is still up for grabs! I wanted to take a second to call out a pair of auctions on their own, however, as they have very close ties to Game Informer.

Crystal Dynamics’ Karl Stewart has added a pair of auctions to the pot, one of which is an issue of our Tomb Raider cover signed by the development crew. The second item is significantly more impressive. Stewart has listed the original cover art from our Batman: Arkham Asylum reveal.

The original sketch by DC/Wildstorm artist Carlos D’anda also comes with a signed copy of the final issue. Signatures are from the following individuals:

  • Mark Hamill (voice of the Joker)
  • Kevin Conroy (voice of Batman)
  • Paul Dini (Arkham Asylum writer and creator of the character Harley Quinn)
  • Carlos D'anda (DC/Wildstorm concept artist for Batman Arkham Asylum)

“This has been kept out of prying hands (locked in my vault) for nearly 3 years and I think now is a good time as any to let it go to someone who will take great pride in showing it off, or adding it to their private collection, in order to help raise some much needed funds for @playforJPN,” said Stewart.

Please help spread the word about this particular item, as it's a very impressive piece.

Thank you again!
