No Unreal For 3DS

by Matt Miller on Mar 03, 2011 at 09:02 AM

Mark Rein says that Nintendo's new handheld just doesn't have the technical capabilities to support Unreal technology.

Joystiq had a conversation with Epic's Mark Rein recently in which he made abundantly clear how Unreal will work on the 3DS. The short answer? It won't.

"The second Nintendo releases a piece of hardware that can run our engine well, we'll be on it like water on fish...If we felt it could run [Unreal Engine] and deliver the kind of experience people license our technology to build, we'd be on [the 3DS]," Rein says. Check it his full comments from Joystiq's interview.

There's no two ways about it. Looks like all those Marcus Fenix/Samus Aran fan-fic writers will have to keep their strange obsession in writing. Star-crossed lovers, indeed.
