New Grasshopper Manufacture Game To Be Announced March 30

by Phil Kollar on Feb 28, 2011 at 03:20 PM

If you're just dying to know about what's next from famed (and slightly crazy) Japanese developer Suda51 and his crew at Grasshopper Manufacture, you only have a bit longer to wait. The developer will be holding an event on March 30 where it will announce its next project.

Titled Grasstream 2: Travis vs. Garcia -- a reference to the main characters of Grasshopper-developed franchises No More Heroes and Shadows of the Damned (pictured) -- the event will be open to fans and will take place at Shinjuku Loft Plus One in Tokyo.

Presumably the new game they'll be announcing is not Codename D, Grasshopper's Kinect project which was first teased at last year's Tokyo Game Show. So what is the new game? Perhaps the event itself holds some hints.

With Travis Touchdown called out by name in the event's title and the first portion of the night devoted to a No More Heroes 2 postmortem, an announcement of a third game in that series would not feel out of place. Then again, the invitation also stresses that attendees should bring their iPhone or iPad if they own one, so perhaps Grasshopper is branching out into the iOS?

The event invitation also mentions special gifts, a concert, and a new Shadows of the Damned trailer. It sounds like a blast, so if you're in Tokyo and have love for Grasshoper, be sure to check it out. Advance tickets cost 1,500 Yen ($18.30) and getting in at the door costs 2,000 Yen ($24.39).
