We've been waiting forever for new info on Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a spin-off of last year's single-player Final Fantasy release that will not feature the same characters or settings (as far as we know). But it looks like Square Enix isn't quite finished with Lightning, Snow, and the gang from FF XIII.

Silicon Era reports that on January 10 the URL Finalfantasy13-2game.com was registered by "Corporation Service Company." After a little digging, they found out that this was the same company that has registered numerous other web domains for Square Enix, including Nier, MindJack, and the original Final Fantasy XIII.

The only previous FF game to receive a direct sequel on consoles was Final Fantasy X. FF XII had a strategy-RPG sequel appear on the DS, and Final Fantasy IV received a mobile (and eventually WiiWare) sequel over 15 years after its release.

Square is holding an event in Japan next week where they will be showing off a number of current projects, so if this rumored Final Fantasy XIII sequel is legit, we could find out about then. In the meantime, we've reached out to Square for comment and will update if we hear back.
