Trademark Teases Final “Codename D” Title?

by Meagan Marie on Jan 13, 2011 at 03:15 AM

Microsoft pushed Kinect in a big way at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show, announcing an impressive roster of exclusive partnerships with noteworthy Japanese developers.

One such project includes Grasshopper Manufacture’s “Codename D.” A Kinect title debuted through a bizarre trailer, the footage was immediately indicative of what we’ve come to expect from Suda51. The teaser showcased a man standing outside a twisted carnival of sorts, tossing a baseball up and down in one hand before it burst into flames.

Spotted by Siliconera, Grasshopper Manufacture recently filed a trademarked for “Diabolical Pitch.” The obvious baseball reference lends credence to the idea that Diabolical Pitch could be the final name for the downloadable Kinect title.

Suda51 promised that the game – called Diabolical Pitch or otherwise – will break conventions standard to the action genre. One look at the creepy antagonists in animal masks, and we’re inclined to agree.
