SSX: Deadly Descents Exists, Looks Strangely Serious

Earlier this year, I started a movement on Twitter demanding the development of a new game in the SSX series. Tonight, I can proclaim my success...sort of.

Rounding out a night of new game announcements at the Spike Video Game Awards, EA showed the first trailer for SSX: Deadly Descents. Despite carrying the SSX name, this doesn't appear to be the fun-loving, trick-focused snowboarding title you'd expect. In the video, a snowboarder jumps out of a helicopter and, as the subtitle suggests, onto a rather dangerous cliff. Why he's doing this isn't exactly clear, but he has numerous tools at his disposal other than his snowboard.

I'm withholding judgment until I see the game in action, but EA, please note that I'm watching you carefully. You've ignored this once-wonderful franchise for long enough. Please don't screw it up.
