Iron Man Director Inspired By Red Dead Redemption For His Next Film
Cowboys & Aliens, the new movie in the works from Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau, is based on a graphic novel. However, according to recent comments, Favreau also has Rockstar's recent open-world Western in mind as he's making the film.
Speaking to /film during a visit to the Cowboys & Aliens set, Favreau said that he and lead actor Daniel Craig started off filming for the movie by playing Red Dead Redemption together. Furthermore, he compared his directorial duties to playing the game:
"I’m basically playing Red Dead Redemption every day, except I'm telling Daniel [Craig] ‘go left, go right’ instead of using a joystick."
Of course that whole alien angle means the film probably won't be too much like Red Dead in the end, but it's refreshing to see Hollywood types taking inspiration from games instead of just scoffing at them.
