Panasonic may not have had the best luck with their previous venture into the world of gaming, the 3DO, but it looks like they're ready to give it another shot. They've announced a new gaming device called the Jungle.
What we know about the Jungle so far mostly comes from a first report from Gizmodo. As you can see above, it almost looks more like a phone, with a full keyboard alongside a d-pad and shoulder buttons. There's no info on how powerful the system is yet, but apparently it features a very crisp, high-resolution screen.
As for the actual content, Panasonic is positioning the device as focused on MMOs and online gaming, allowing hardcore MMO players access to their game of choice even when they're away from their computer. The only game confirmed to be running on the device so far is Battlestar Galactica Online, the upcoming MMO spinning off from the popular sci-fi television series.
According to the Gizmodo report, the device may run on Linux, which would make bringing over PC MMOs such as World of Warcraft a bit troublesome. They suggest that the device could be offered through a cell phone carrier at a subsidized price in order to have always-on 3G Internet.

However this weird little device turns out, I think it's safe to say that we can expect to hear "Welcome to the Jungle" thrown around as an annoying marketing slogan for years to come.
