Lionhead Reveals Fable III: Kingmaker, And You Can’t Play
Leading up to the release of Fable III, Lionhead Studios announced this morning Fable III: Kingmaker, a mobile game that provides and ancillary experience to the console title. Fans in Europe will be enticed into playing the geo-location title by the promise of gold.
The game itself is a unique one. Players choose a faction – Rebel or Royal – and take ownership of real land using the Fable III: Kingmaker application to claim unclaimed or opposing team territory by planting a virtual flag via GPS enabled smartphones. The greatest number of flags wins the faction territory, and players will be gifted in-game gold for their efforts. The gold will then be transferred to the full console title when it launches in late October.
Gold can be spent on customizing your character and purchasing real estate. This gives Kingmaker players a chance to bulk up their bank account before the title hits retail, similar to the Fable II pub games.
Sounds fun, right? The downside is that Kingmaker is only available in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, and Sweden. Bummer.
We've contacted Microsoft to see if they have any plans to launch a similar application stateside.
If you do reside in Europe, however, visit the official Kingmaker website to get started.
