Remember that story from earlier today about how analysts continue to predict that Activision will add subscription fees to current or upcoming Call of Duty games? Ever wonder where people get the idea that something like that would be successful? Here's where.

Today Activision announced that downloadable map packs for the various Call of Duty games have surpassed 20 million units sold this generation. Since this number is life-to-date for the whole series, it includes Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Call of Duty: World At War, and Modern Warfare 1 and 2.

Even split among five games with numerous map packs each, that's a very impressive number in the relatively fresh world of digital content. Are there anyone shooter fans reading this who haven't purchased at least one Call of Duty map pack?
