Costumes For Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions Include Scarlet Spider

by Phil Kollar on Jul 23, 2010 at 09:05 AM

Ultimate Spider-Man may have been unveiled as the final of the four Spider-Men starring in Activision's upcoming Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions, but that doesn't mean all the Spidey surprises are done. Today at Comic-Con, Marvel revealed several alternate costumes that you'll be able to unlock throughout the course of the game.

For my money, the most surprising but kind of awesome choice on the list is Scarlet Spider, a.k.a. Ben Reilly, a.k.a. the clone of Peter Parker from Marvel's much-maligned Clone Saga in the '90s. In general, fans have always hated this version of Spider-Man, largely due to the crappy story he was a part of, but I've always been partial to the weird costume design (pictured above).

Also included on the alternate costume list:

-Iron Spider suit (presumably this is the recent Iron Man-created suit that Peter Parker wore a couple years back at the start of Marvel's Civil War event)
-Negative Zone Spider-Man (not sure about this one)
-Spider Armor (check him out here [via Jake])
-Mangaverse Spider-Man (an even scrawnier, more anime-inspired Spidey, pictured below)

It sounds like some of these new suits will be unlockable, while others will be pre-order bonuses. Scarlet Spider-Man, for example, will be included with pre-orders at K-Mart. We'll update when we have specifics on where/how to get the rest of the suits or what other pre-order deals will be available.
